Holiday Club 2012

The 2012 Holiday Bible Club ran for three mornings 23 – 25 July for children aged 5 – 11 years and was blessed with such great weather.
Mark led the event based on Scripture Union’s Booklet and DVD depicting Jesus calling his team, shaping them and then inspiring them – all interspersed with music and DVD teaching (Stadium), games (Running Track) craft (Pentathlon) and Bible teaching (Gymnasium).   According to their age the children were based in groups with their ‘trainers’ as Rowers, Cyclists or Swimmers during their Athletic Heats.  Yes, you’ve guessed it – it had an Olympic slant to it!  It was great fun and the children were so enthusiastic about learning how Jesus called his disciples Simon, Andrew, James and John [fishermen] and  then Levi [tax collector] and told them to ‘Follow me’ ;  and then  he completed his Team by calling the rest of his disciples and they obeyed him.  Day two brought to life the story of the healing of the blind man Bartimaeus and how he regained his sight through his faith in Jesus .   Day three taught them about Jesus asking his disciples who they thought he was (you are the Messiah ) and then  his Transfiguration on the mountain  with Moses and Elijah and God telling the disciples with him ‘this is my Son, listen to Him’ .
Each of us helping at this year’s Holiday Club had some very special moments  (and much laughter) with these amazing children, and we all want to thank them for helping to enrich our lives.
What was the children’s verdict?        Great fun - we are coming back next year ……..    Watch this space!
